(Go read it if you haven't already!). There were scenes that felt like too much of a stretch or just forced and the bittersweet ending left me wanting a happy outcome.

Non-offensive for adults. I have not read the book as I have never of it but will have to find it now. It's just not an uplifting movie, by my standards.
I like it enough to have watched it twice, primarily because the good, kind characters outweigh the shallow.
If you like Jane Austin movies, you'll like this and it's much more interesting to see it without the spoilers. If you want something mindless for a rainy day, this would be very nice with a pot of tea.

It would be great to see a grand production of the entire book as a series with lots of 'what happens next' and the minor stories expanded and developed. It was one of my favorite books for years and the opening line was so funny,I can't believe it wasn't in the movie along with at least some of the humor which was sadly missing.
