I would highly recommend this dvd as both stories are very good. The two episodes in this season of the show are particularly good. The last in a series of detective story adaptations of the Inspector Lynley novels. (11 Nov 2007). Limbo There is a twist at the end but you kind of expected to see something along those lines coming, so it was not entirely surprising. However, the past seems to haunt her, and a break-in at her apartment leads Lynley to suspect that the 12-year old crime is still reverberating through the victim's family. I have all the Linley Mysteries series, and they're all good - the carefully built plots, complex but always credible, the psychology of the characters and their social interaction make Lynley the typical top level British crime series, probably the best with Waking the dead. This set feels like a something that got killed half way through -- there feels like there should be more, but it ultimately bails out unfinished. A very successful partnership - tried and tested!
I hate to use the cliche - the journey, but each character has gained from their relationship , both working and personal, with the other. The second episode just ended, an excellent one, to be sure, but with no resolution of the tension between the characters. The quality of the stories are still very high indeed, and it's a real shame that they have decided to stop filming.
