Directed by Rick Bota, the original script was written by Neal Marshall Stevens, who also wrote the script for the 2001 remake of Thirteen Ghosts. It is like two completely different - but equally awful - ideas/stories that got stitched together into an incomprehensible movie that makes no sense, and to top all that the dialogue is just as awful, as well as the amateurish direction, cinematography and editing. Amy opens the box anyway and is nearly pulled into the box by Pinhead, who warns her that she is in danger.
|, August 19, 2005 She goes to a rundown apartment after bribing he landlord to let her in for 5 minutes. Sure it's always to cash in for a quick buck, but if you can't make a good flick, why even bother? |, June 26, 2005 There are some questionable things in this movie, such as the Ninja Cowboys (Yeah, you read that right) and a slightly preachy Pinhead determined to punish Joseph for his sins, but other than those few minor nitpicks, this is a solid horror mystery with plenty of interesting visuals and plot twists. Pinhead reveals that Winter is a descendant of Phillip Lemarchand, following a life of evil rather than following the others in his bloodline. Also the role as pinhead wasn't bad. The Hellraiser-ish material is just kind of wedged in here and there with little sense, rhythm, or excitement. On the bright side, it has the always great Lance Henriksen in it, and pre-Superman Henry Cavill appears to have been having fun making this movie. A weak entry, with a plot I do not care, and with a Pinhead that looked exhausted and forgettable, though Kari Wuhrer as Amy Klein was quite a performance. The ending scene took away a lot of momentum gained earlier.
A female reporter Amy Klein (Kari Wuhrer) for a London newspaper is sent to Bucharest to investigate an underground suicide cult (the Deaders) who can bring back the dead. She says Winter was looking for someone who could both solve the box and become a Deader. That’s totally fair. Out of all of the Direct-to-Video sequels, I do enjoy this one the best.
They are the consequences that await the seekers of pleasure and pain who open the box. Overall, despite being ranked seventh on this list, I do enjoy this one for trying to expand on the mythology and world that this franchise exists within. (Video 2005). Despite the synopsis on the DVD case pumping up the return of Ashley Laurence as Kirsty Cotton for the first time since her cameo appearance in the third film, she’s barely in this film, although her character is a major presence to the story. The story reverts back to ‘The Hellbound Heart’ thematically and focuses on a morally corrupt character who opens the box. 06) ‘Hellraiser: Deader (2005) But, don’t worry: this sequel takes place in the future, so there’s plenty of room left for dozens of stories in-between. She is quickly drawn into their dark world and soon can see no way out other than to join them. Kari Wuhrer carries the entire film on her shoulders, and does a really good job. Don't think for a moment you are not in danger. At the exact moment of this, Amy falls dead of her injuries from being stabbed by Marla. Regal By opting to have your ticket verified for this movie, you are allowing us to check the email address associated with your Rotten Tomatoes account against an email address associated with a Fandango ticket purchase for the same movie.
Joey tries to dissuade her from her quest but Amy doesn't relent. Do you disagree? It forgets that the first two films weren’t focused on Pinhead and the Cenobites, and it feels, to me, that it goes a little beyond the world established by Clive Barker with a need to become mainstream and make slasher icons. She goes into the bathroom and finds the hanged corpse of Marla, the person who took the video. The final scene echoes the original Hellraiser's ending, but to be honest, parts 1 , 2, and 5 are the only strong installments of this far-fetched horror franchise. A woman discovers the newly resurrected, partially formed, body of her brother-in-law. However, I do still enjoy this film, probably a lot more now than I used to (which I suppose makes my complaints of ‘Hell on Earth’ hypocritical), but I do wonder what this film would have been like if Barker, Atkins and Yagher got to make the film they intended. Her investigation brings her to one of the infamous puzzle boxes, and plunging her into a growing feud between the Deaders and the Cenobites. Channard and Julia form a partnership of their own, and it’s up to Kirsty to stop them. Oh, and the guilt tripping douche canoe survives, so F this movie. Overall, this sequel has grown on me over the years and I enjoy watching it. Kirsty is brought to an institution after the horrible events of Hellraiser (1987), where the occult-obsessive head doctor resurrects Julia and unleashes the Cenobites and their demonic underworld. Scott Derrickson was approached to direct but declined, and Rick Bota was rehired from the previous film. A shady businessman attempts to piece together the details of the car crash that killed his wife, rendered him an amnesiac, and left him in possession of a …
Overall, despite being ranked seventh on this list, I do enjoy this one for trying to expand on the mythology and world that this franchise exists within. HELLRAISER: DEADER is the latest, most terrifying chapter in the wildly frightening HELLRAISER legacy! Deader is another bland sequel in the dying Hellraiser franchise. Group Leader Charles watches a report of the building's destruction on TV, showing that the Lament Configuration has been recovered from the rubble. | Rating: 1/4 Coming Soon, Regal With Fede Alvarez? The film is sharper, scarier, gorier, and certainly more serious than the last few entries in the series. Also the puzzle box has been shown to be safe and intact despite the explosion which brought down the whole building. Video: Rayzor’s Italian Horror Collection, Unboxing of the Friday the 13th Box Set from Scream Factory, Rob Zombie’s Halloween Movies – THS Discourse, Rayzor’s Review: Hellraiser: Judgement (2018). Deader was filmed on location in Romania in 2002. While the first four followed a linear story line that delved deeper into the mythology with each film and gradually increased the presence of Pinhead and the cenobites, I love that the following six films served as an anthology of tales centered on those who opened the box – some of which connect to the story lines from the first four films – and I think that some of these are just really good horror tales on their own. Neo Art & Logic, September 29, 2020 Coming back to the living world, Amy successfully opens the box and summons the Cenobites. Paul T. Taylor proves to be a worthy successor to Doug Bradley as Pinhead – I’d like to see more of him in the role, especially if Doug is truly finished with the character – and the other would be Special Effects Artist/Writer/Director Gary J. Tunnicliffe as The Auditor; his performance really surprised me, especially because it was strong and oddly likable. The effects are good, Doug Bradley shines in this, and I like the aspect of Elliot Spencer and the Hell Priest being separated, but overall, it’s one of my least favorite entries in the series because it’s a little too focused on Pinhead. I’ll admit, I love the ‘Hellraiser’ franchise.
