While telling an emotionally resonant story on the surface, beneath it acts as a social critique of society and a warning to parents but it is not dated in any way as it references subjects that are not usually explored in movies 50 years later. A young man and his wife struggle within the confines of their passionless relationship while he has an extramarital romance. Drama.

22 November 2019 The first public demo for Prison Simulator to be available during PAX Online X EGX Digital. this was ozu's most criticised film upon its release because of the difficult themes of depression, suicide, and abortion, but the people are so genuine that i couldnt help but feel effected. in the hands of ozu it was profound, engaging, and more true to life than most other films ever made. It was interesting to contrast the handling of abortion by director Yasujiro Ozu with that by 'new wave' director Nagisa Oshima (Cruel Story of Youth, 1960), and the American Robert Mulligan (Love with the Proper Stranger, 1963). Tokyo Twilight (東京暮色, Tōkyō boshoku) is a 1957 Japanese drama film by Yasujirō Ozu. Back at home, Takako hears about Kisako from Akiko, and pieces together the fact that she is their long-lost mother. Tokyo Twilight is a lot darker.
